On a wired DAC the audio path has never changed: no transcoding, no resampling, no mixer. DSD goes out as DoP; PCM goes out at the file's native rate. Anywhere else, whatever the app does to the signal is written on the screen. Each entry links to the full release notes.

  1. Sleeve for 1-bit 2.1, Little Giant

    1-bit 2.1 Little Giant

    A point release that carries more than its number suggests. Large PCM files can start playing while they download, DSD conversion gains an Always setting and a per-DAC choice, the Library lists take their order and layout from Settings, DACs get a page of their own, and the tab bar makes room while you scroll. Bridge 0.2.1 arrived the day before.

    1. Big files start sooner: large FLAC, WAV and AIFF files can start playing while they download, instead of waiting for the whole file; turn it on in Settings → Audio
    2. More DSD choices: set DSD conversion to Always, or play DSD as PCM on just the one DAC that needs it; the conversion level now goes from +6 down to 0 dB, one step at a time, for recordings that would clip at +6
    3. Your library, your order: choose how each list is sorted and laid out in Settings → Library → Browsing; artist pages now show the newest albums first, and sorting albums by year adds a year index along the edge
    4. A tidier Artists list: artists who only appear on compilations no longer crowd the Artists list, and you can bring them back in Settings → Library → Compilations; a file tagged as part of a compilation that carries no album artist now files under Various Artists, for music on the device, a network share or a bridge running 0.2.1
    5. A home for your DACs: DACs have their own page in Settings, one row per DAC, with Profile my DAC right there; plug in a DAC the app doesn’t know yet and the Audio page invites you to profile it
    6. iFi DACs, thanks to Axel: 1-bit now recognises iFi USB DACs, thanks to the profile Axel Arenas sent in with Profile my DAC
    7. More room to scroll: the tab bar shrinks while you scroll, with the mini player beside it, and comes back when you scroll up
    8. Bridge 0.2.1 hardens pairing (a pairing link now carries a one-time code), keeps client addresses out of its logs, reads more of your tags (a FLAC or Ogg date it could not parse no longer arrives as year 1) and sends the compilation flag 2.1 files by; no re-pairing needed

  2. Sleeve for 1-bit 2.0.1, Unfinished Symphony

    1-bit 2.0.1 Unfinished Symphony

    A round of fixes on top of 2.0. The app follows the system appearance again, gapless works over a remote bridge, a settings change reaches the next track, and Signal Path claims a bit-exact path only when nothing alters the bits. Same codename; the bridge stays at 0.2.0.

    1. Theme follows iOS again — with Theme set to System the app switches between light and dark with the system, and a theme you pick applies right away rather than after a relaunch
    2. Gapless over a remote bridge — the next track is fetched early enough to join gaplessly, timed by the connection’s measured speed
    3. A change to DSD conversion or its level, the stereo effect or ReplayGain now reaches the next track even when it is already lined up for gapless
    4. When another app’s audio interrupts playback, the track resumes with sound and the timer stays where the music is
    5. Artist pages fetch a portrait that is missing, and the header of a guest appearance opens the album
    6. Signal Path claims a verified bit-exact path only when nothing alters the bits, and Now Playing says when a bridge-optimized copy is playing over Bluetooth or AirPlay
    7. Albums show a favorite heart on their page and in lists, and a track that comes back over a bridge keeps its playlist slots, heart and download
    8. Tracks from an SACD .iso no longer refuse to play over storage they do not need; Siri no longer stops on an SACD container in a playlist, and CarPlay no longer lists one as a blank row
  3. Sleeve for 1-bit 2.0, Unfinished Symphony

    1-bit 2.0 Unfinished Symphony

    The largest release since 1-bit launched. A private library we host for you, lyrics that follow the music line by line, DSD that plays on any output, SACD rips and DST-compressed DSD that open like ordinary files, DSD256 with a wizard that profiles your DAC, and a player built for iOS 27.

    1. 1-bit Cloud (beta) — a private bridge that we run, so you don’t have to leave a computer switched on at home; sign in with Apple, add music from any computer through the web uploader, and it appears in Sources like any other bridge. 20 GB is included free
    2. Lyrics — synced lyrics that follow the music line by line, read from the file’s own tags, from a sidecar beside it, from your bridge, or from an online source you switch on yourself; tap the artwork on Now Playing and it becomes the lyric sheet
    3. DSD on any output — DSD used to refuse anything but a wired DAC; it now plays on AirPods, AirPlay, CarPlay and the speaker, converted to PCM on the phone and labeled as converted wherever it is shown, while a capable wired DAC still gets the untouched bit-exact path
    4. SACD rips and compressed DSD — an SACD .iso now opens into ordinary per-track rows that play and download like anything else, and DST-compressed DSDIFF files that were refused outright now decode as they play, gaplessly
    5. DSD256, and a wizard for your DAC — DSD256 over DoP is confirmed working, so the ceiling that used to sit at DSD128 is gone on hardware that supports it; Diagnostics adds Profile my DAC, a guided set of measurements you can send in so your hardware gets supported properly
    6. Built for iOS 27 — the Lock Screen, Control Center and CarPlay controls run on Apple’s new Now Playing session, including shuffle, repeat and the Favorite heart; tracks stored on this device that carry no loudness tag get an on-device loudness estimate so ReplayGain can level them too; everything keeps working on iOS 26.1 and later
    7. Also in 2.0: your bridge can convert DSD ahead of time so it streams a fraction of the size, the floating player arrives on iPad, a flat Tracks list, better tags and artwork from files on your device, a redesigned Now Playing, and multiple fixes

    1-bit 1.9 The Long Day Is Over

    The biggest release since 1.0. A spatial renderer that opens stereo out around your head, a live spectrum and true-peak analyzer fed by a read-only tap, favorites that back up to your own bridge, two new ways to browse the library, and a measured answer to whether a “hi-res” file really is one.

    1. Spatial audio (beta) — a binaural renderer with head tracking on supported AirPods, plus stage width, room reflections and a focused-centre option; PCM only, and DSD is never touched
    2. Live audio meters — a real-time spectrum and true-peak analyzer in Signal Path, fed by a tap that only reads the audio on its way to your DAC; off until you turn it on
    3. Favorites — heart any track or album, find them in the library’s new Favorites section, and switch on the per-bridge backup (off by default) to have them follow you to your other devices and feed a mix on Home
    4. Composers and Genres as first-class library sections with their own pages, tuned for classical name forms and multi-genre tags; both work in search, and Siri takes genre requests
    5. Deeper track analysis — measured true peak, a dynamic-range score, key and tempo, and a FLAC checksum test that flags a file altered since it was encoded
    6. A one-tap demo library for anyone without a server of their own, waveforms drawn on the device when your source has none (DSD included), a thermal and battery dashboard in Diagnostics, and refreshed typefaces throughout
    7. Library sync reports honest progress and pulls far less artwork; offline playback skips to the next downloaded track instead of stopping; renamed or moved files keep their identity; steadier CarPlay
    8. Bridge 0.1.9 adds far better metadata matching, one copy of each duplicated track, acoustic fingerprinting, provenance analysis and favorites backup

  5. Sleeve for 1-bit 1.8, Steady State

    1-bit 1.8 Steady State

    Point 1-bit at music folders anywhere on your device instead of copying them in, watch a real waveform of the track drift behind the progress bar, and open the album booklet. Plus “Appears On” for guest artists, optional offline caching, settings tuned to the DAC you own, and the largest fix pass since 1.0.

    1. Your own music folders as a source — pick any folder on the device or an attached drive from Files and 1-bit plays it where it already lives, with no copying into the app and no new permission
    2. Real waveforms behind the scrubber, drawn as a drifting field of dust that brightens with the music — computed offline by your own bridge, never on the audio path
    3. PDF album booklets: a badge on the artwork opens the liner notes full-screen, on albums your bridge has them for
    4. “Appears On” — the records where an artist is a guest or a session player rather than the headline name now show on their page, and guest-only names became searchable
    5. Optional offline caching, both off by default — prefetch the next few tracks in your queue, and cache your smart mixes overnight; Wi-Fi and charging only, never cellular
    6. A “for your DAC” card in Settings → Audio showing the recommended volume, resync and noise-shaper settings for whatever is plugged in (it advises, it never changes anything), and one adaptive app icon that follows the system appearance — gold in light, teal in dark
    7. Bridge 0.1.8 supplies the waveforms, loudness and key/tempo analysis behind those scrubbers plus the PDF booklets, alongside a rebuilt admin console and one-command Docker

    Ask Siri to play your library, a Home screen of automatic mixes your own bridge builds from your listening history, and — optional and off by default — richer artwork and artist notes. Plus performer credits, a new DAC profile, and CarPlay recents.

    1. Siri voice control — say “play [album, artist, or playlist] on 1-bit”, at home, on the Lock Screen, and in CarPlay; Apple handles the voice and the app plays from your on-device library
    2. A Home screen of automatic mixes — Heavy Rotation, Drive Mix, Wind Down, an Auto Mix that sequences by musical key, and a time-of-day mix — generated by your own bridge from the listening history you chose to share (the v1.5 opt-in)
    3. Optional richer metadata via Atlas (off by default, per bridge): higher-resolution square cover art plus artist biographies and album descriptions

    Browse and play straight from any UPnP / DLNA media server — no bridge required — plus a CarPlay reliability overhaul and an optional floating player.

    1. UPnP / DLNA media servers as music sources: browse and play directly from a NAS media server or a Chord 2Go’s built-in library, with no bridge in the path
    2. Server-to-renderer casting: tracks from a UPnP source play on a DLNA renderer, and the renderer fetches the audio straight from that server (2Go → 2Go works)
    3. CarPlay, made dependable: steering-wheel pause/resume no longer reloads or restarts the track, resume keeps your position, and silent stalls self-heal
